I know it might look like this post was in response to Cen's post on her blog, and the other blogs that ironically covered the same subject, but that's not the case.

I actually wrote this article about 6 a.m. Monday morning. Since eI try to spread my posts out, I post scheduled it for publishing. I actually wrote about this before (or at the same time) Cen wrote her article.

This post is seriously intended to point your attention to the Forbes article I found about technology addiction that is pointed to.

I have been where Cen is and I have been where you are and the same is true for a LOT of people. It has happened, is happening and always will happen to people.

I'm happy to say that my friendships feel nicely balanced between my real world and SL friends and acquaintances.

Though I agree, as Cen has mentioned in her "crisis update" post that the word "addicted" is used rather lightly, pretty much by everyone. Including the Forbes article and even the 'professors' and "doctors" quoted in the article.

if you haven't already, I suggest you take a link over there and read it. it really is a fascinating subject and may even offer some insight into things.

And I have no idea why you would possibly imaging bringing this blog "down" by contributing. If anything, You're helping raise the bar of respectability. :)

First off Ari, you always have some very interesti...

First off Ari, you always have some very interesting stuff to say here and I enjoy reading. I've never commented before, but I wanted to on this article. Hopefully I don't drag the blog down.

I came to SL just to play around with something that I had read about in a magazine. Two years later, I have some very dear and close friends, a few of whom I consider RL friends. These days I spend most of my free time in SL after my RL priorities are taken care of. The only reason that I log in every day is for those friendships...friendships that have grown over time. I want to talk to them and see them. Does that make me addicted? I don't think so, because I do have the power to walk away, and I have several times before. I've been away myself this week. But I do find myself choosing my SL friends over RL friends lately. So maybe I'm half ass addicted.

As you know, Cen and I are dear friends also and partners in SL. She is one of those people that I have gotten to know over the last 7 months. She is a strong person and will come through just fine. I know she appreciates your friendship and between the two of us, as well as all of her other friends here, she's got tons of support to get her through this. Her real friends will be waiting for her when she gets back. I think there's going to be a long line. We're in front of that line though.
