There are a lot of third party Second Life “Grid Viewers”. Many of the anal Second Lifers who actually think they know better than thou with regard to what’s good and what isn’t would have you believe the official Linden lab Viewer is a piece of shit.
Fact: they are full of shit.
The Linden lab Viewer is where the latest gridtech will be supported. Besides, anyone who would tell you to change something you have no complaints about for no reason other than they think it’s “bad” is someone you should do your damnedest to avoid at all costs. They have a major superiority complex and anything you do or say is absolutely inferior to what they say or do if they disagree with you.
Case in point: The official Second Life Viewer is enjoyed by many for the very reason that it’s not bloated with rarely-used “features” and TOC/CS-abusing abilities, but that the latest “tech” from Linden Lab is implemented here first.
Among the latest features of the Second Life Search is the “Current Population” indicator shown in search results. In short, as demonstrated in the screenshot above, it is easy to see “there are people here. Now. And they are actively moving around and likely not bots.”
Kudos to Linden Lab. Third-party Viewers users: no worries. Patience is a virtue. You’ll get the feature before the end of the year. If you’re lucky.
