DET – Diploma in Education and Training

The DET certification is designed for individuals working in the teaching profession and who require Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills status (QTLS).

The qualification is comparable in value to Certificate in Education within the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (FHEQ). It can result in Qualified Teacher of Learning and Skills (QTLS) status when coupled with ongoing professional growth and professional training. The Diploma is a level 5 qualification that has 120 credits. The Diploma is comprised of Parts 1 and 2. Additionally, it is required to complete at least 100 hours of classroom instruction.

It is a Diploma in Education and Training Level 5 will prepare trainee teachers to instruct in a variety of situations. To be eligible for the Level 5 DET you’ll have to prove 100 hours of instruction and 8 observation of instruction, which will require at least 8 hours. The observations that are graded at least two of them must be graded to Grade 2 of the standards set by Ofsted. The observer must be certified to minimum five levels or a specialist in their field of expertise.

The College is required to attract students to the qualification in a professional manner and demonstrate best practices in the application of assessments in the initial stages and needs analysis. The College will examine the qualifications of the applicant or experience to determine if the profile indicates that they are able to obtain the required qualification. We suggest that all applicants have an advanced level qualification. Be aware that applicants with a levels 3 or 4 in a specific area could be considered, but this could impact the opportunities to teach as well as their future job opportunities.

People who wish to be part of the program for this qualification will be required to pass an interview and online test of entry to determine their proficiency in English and ICT abilities. The applicants must to find work that will meet their professional goals of teaching students who are 16 and over for them to be admitted. The work could be paid or not paid. The college can offer unpaid work for candidates who are qualified to instruct in the higher-education (HE) area.

If you want to be employed in the field of education it is possible that you will need Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance. You will be the one to arrange this. It is not possible to obtain DBS clearance in the event that the applicant has a criminal history and therefore are not likely to gain work in the field of education at present or in the future. You must report any criminal convictions to the college or else we are unable to provide you with the right advice.

What is the method by which DET distributed?

The full-time course is offered through weekly classes as well as independent studies. Sessions occur twice a week throughout the day, for 8 hours total.
