It is perched on a hill that is in the front of Emirates Towers, the Museum of the Future has been an intriguing enigma building for a number of years.
As the construction progressed and the stunning building was revealed in this part of the financial district the landmark structure caught the hearts and minds of tourists and residents alike. The building’s opening was originally scheduled for the same time as Expo 2020; both were delayed due to the Covid-19.
The museum officially was opened on February 2022.
The building’s unique design was developed in the hands of Killa Design, a local architecture firm in the year 2015 it was the winning entry in the design contest for the museum. The project was led by Shaun Killa, the firm chose the geometric form of an elliptical-shaped torus.
The fluidity of the structure is starkly different from its vertical lines that are typical of towers which typically flank Sheikh Zayed Road. The structure is composed of 3 elements: the hill: grass that includes the building itself as well as the void that symbolizes Earth humankind, humanity and the unknown.
The form and size of the structure make it a sight to behold even though it faced many challenges in terms of construction.
2,400 steel beams that intersected diagonally were used for the frame of the building, and more than 1,000 steel panels covering the structure.
Each one of these panels is distinctive, and together they create the canvas for three quotations from Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai who called the museum “the most stunning structure anywhere in this world”.
The striking Arabic writing script transformed the building into artwork and also serves as windows for the building.

“We will not last in the next hundreds of years but could create something that can last throughout hundreds of years”
“The future is only for those who are in a position to design, imagine and build it. The future is not a distant dream it can be built and designed today”
“The key to the rebirth of life, the growth of civilization, and the advancement of mankind is contained only one word: “innovation.”
What can you expect from the Museum of the Future
Once you have entered the museum, you’ll find yourself in the main lobby located on the ground floor where you will be able to admire the beauty of the museum.
In this location there is the cafe to one side and a gift shop to the other. Keep an eye out for the robotic barista making coffee, and the robotics that glimmer in the air.
Seven floors are within the museum, with galleries on levels from one to five. Another feat of engineering that is astonishing hight is the main double-helix staircase, the highest in the world, connecting them all.
The guide will help you get your ticket in the shape of a wristband that can be worn on the right side of your arm. The wristband is equipped with a tiny chip that lets you interact with the installations. You will be asked to pass through the security barriers, and then transferred to level 5 and where the journey begins.
Five: OSS Hope
Space station OSS Hope in the year 2071 (UAE centenary year). The virtual guide Aya is a variety of simulations and interactive installations in which you can discover the ways that humans are able to use the most advanced technology in space.
4. Heal Institute
You are back on earth and are welcomed into The Heal Institute. You will be taught about ecosystems of the Amazon as well as the impacts of climate change and how to build the foundation for a sustainable future.
Ask for a handheld device from the stunning Vault of Life gallery. The DNA library features 2400 species and the device allows you to find out more about the species you’ve selected.
Third Level: Al Waha Wellness Area
When you step into the third floor it is a shift in focus from the nature of the earth to the ways we maintain and care for our bodies and minds. The interactive galleries within Al Waha Wellness Area Al Waha Wellness Area offer an array of treatments and therapiesthat encourage us to unwind and unplug and focus on our personal wellbeing.
The therapies they offer are Movement therapy Therapy for connection, Therapy for grounding. There’s also a space that is dedicated to meditation.
Level 2 2. Tomorrow Today
It is a floor dedicated to technology developments over the next 10 years and also in the in the near future. What can technology do to help us solve the problems of our time? Innovation is the key to making our lives more comfortable and consequently more eco-friendly.
It is important to note that at the back of this level, you’ll find the entryway to the outdoor viewing deck offering a spectacular views from a unique angle. Do not miss this opportunity to take photos.
Level 1: Future Heroes
The area in the museum is dedicated to children aged under 10 years old. In this area, they are guided to play and explore through three activities such as Imagine, Design, and Build. The children are involved through games that are interactive and they can take part in mission and earn badges along the journey.
Carers and parents are not permitted in the main play space, however, there are plenty of staff members available to assist children. There is a waiting area in the designated area just outside the play area, or you can explore the galleries in the upper areas.

Entry into the Museum of the Future
Although you’re not required to reserve tickets ahead, it is strongly recommended to do so. Tickets are all assigned a time and date and are typically sold out in advance for several days.

There are a variety of ways to get to the museum.
If you’re travelling in a car, there’s parking that is available with a pre-booked ticket. Parking valet is available at an additional cost.

If you’re traveling by public transportation, Dubai Metro is connected directly to the museum. Get off at the Emirates Towers Station and follow the directions over the bridge that connects you towards the museum.
